Ya hemos visto como utilizar el artículo definitivo “The” y el artículo indefinido “a/an”. Hoy repasaremos al llamado “Zero Article”; es decir, cuando en una oración tenemos que obviar el uso del artículo. Esto sucede al hablar de:

Continentes:
They´re travelling through America

Países:
Have you been to Colombia?

Montañas:
They have reached the summit of Mount Everest

Lagos:
Is Lake Como in Switzerland?

Villas:
San Antonio is a village just along the coast

Barrios:
Horsham is a pleasant town

Ciudades:
I received great news from New York

Calles, caminos:
Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road are very busy shopping streets in London.

Revistas:
Do you read Time magazine?

Sustantivos plurales, incontables y abstractos usados con sentido común:
I don´t like people who try to impress you with how much money they´ve got.

Tampoco no se utiliza artículos en las siguientes expresiones:

to/at/from school/university/college

Ejemplo: The way from school to work
 
Un error sería: The way from the school to work
                           The way from a school to work

in/to  class
to/in/into/from church
to/in/into/out of prison/hospital/bed

Ejemplo: More than one in 100 adults in the United States is in prison.
Y no: More than one in 100 adults in the United States is in a prison.

for/at/to breakfast/lunch/dinner
on foot
